Ms. April Zabinsky

Roles & Responsibilities:  As Director of the Writing Center, Ms. Zabinsky works with students at all grade levels and abilities one-on-one and in small groups. She serves both ends of the spectrum and everything in between: from students who need remedial support, to those who require occasional help and polishing, to the accomplished student looking for a challenge. Her goals through the Writing Center include enabling students to see writing as a pleasurable process, facilitating the writing across the curriculum initiative, improving students as writers, developing independence in student writers, providing a safe, pressure-free environment for writing and thinking, assisting students with school papers, extracurricular papers and creative writing and facilitating student submissions to writing contests and literary magazines. In addition to running the Writing Center, Ms. Zabinsky teaches 9th Grade Writing and 12th Grade English.

Related Activities:  Ms. Zabinsky advises North Shore's digital newspaper, North Shore Notes, digital literary magazine, The Written Voice, and the Creative Writing Club. In addition, she is a college essay advisor, Assistant Coordinator of Shiriyah, administers NSHAHS TurnItIn and RevisionAssistant accounts. Yearbook Advisor.
