A letter from the P.T.A. Presidium
Dear North Shore Parents,
The NSHAHS PTA is off to a huge start this year. And by huge, we mean that we’ve created an executive board that includes three Vice Presidents, a Treasurer, a Fundraising Committee, a new School Liaison Committee, a Life Events Committee, and at the suggestion of the Middle and Lower School PTAs, a new Working Parents Committee.
Our new School Liaison Committee, chaired by Didi Hutt, will foster our relationships with the Middle and Lower School PTAs, in the hopes of creating North Shore events that include families and students of all ages, and continue our joint fundraising efforts.
Our new Working Parents Chair, Dr. Jill Sonnenklar, will serve as an advocate for working parents during our meetings, and we hope to create working parent evening meetings and events.
We understand that the goals of the High School PTA are very different than those of the Middle and Lower School. With the largest student body in NSHAHS history, the High School is now made up of four hundred and thirty seven students from eleven different feeder schools and fourteen different Jewish communities, from all over Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.
Our role and our focus this year is not only to fundraise for PTA supported student activities, but to connect all of the parents from our fourteen different communities and our faculty into one cohesive family. We’ll do this by visiting our parents in their own neighborhoods, holding meetings and events at different locations and in the evening, and finally, making sure that the opinions and concerns of all of our parents are heard and addressed. Please feel free to contact the NSHAHS PTA directly with any questions or requests.
